As every year after the MW tasting, the Alliance is holding a series of wine tastings and banquets in cooperation with prominent gastronomic centers to meet all food and wine lovers that appreciate food and wine matching in its highest standard of quality. The 2008 venues follow
The test winner and a gold medal holder (a quite unusual and rare award at MF DNES) is the Hort Late Harvest Rosé Cabernet Sauvignon of 2007 vintage. Mr Hort has showed who is the Czech Republic Rose Master, said Mr. Malik, professor of Oenology, wine writer and well-know publisher. The silver medal was then possessed by Nove Vinarstvi for their Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé and another Rosé called Moravska Ruzenka.
From 14th 16Th of May 2008 the 11th International Trade for Gastronomy Wine and Spirits took place. The V8 was also participating and at their stand attracted many visitors with its unique stand and of course excellent wines. The main reason of the V8 participation at the 2008 Wine and Spirits Fair was to draw general attention to recently opened V8 wine clubs in Brno and Prague. The Prague V8 wine club at Maltezske Square of the Prague Leisure Town gave guided wine tasting every day of the Prague exhibition.
The 2008 Wine and Spirit Fair yield a great success for one of our member. Nove Vinarstvi was awarded with the Wine and Spirit Golden Cup for their Rosé Cabernet Sauvignon Cépage.
On 19/10/2007 a new member winery called KOLBY Pouzdrany a.s. was accepted and welcomed by all seven current members.
Country where winemakers cooperate and assist each other in an attempt to raise the quality and credit of own country are those, that are the most successful at international wine markets. It is not easy for neither of us to uncover our cards and the wine-making secrets for our competition. But if all of us are willing to do that we are then able to learn from each other and soon understand what stands behind the cusses of our competitor. The way for gaining recognition of our country leads right this direction. By fulfilling this goal not only us winemakers gain profit but mainly wine lovers all people interested in wines.
The eight of us from South Moravia understand and believe that the key for Moravian wine image improvement at local and international wine markets may be done through open comparison and by joining our forces and strengths, this of course together with adoption of strict rules that will lead us to even higher quality of our wines.
Literally all V8 wines are made from the best vine trails of South Moravia, trails and vine-growing sites that are together with the unique and specific microclimate and limited yields the fundamental principles of producing high quality wines.
Thus in July 2006, we as representatives of mid-sized wineries, that find winemaking as highly creative process and share the same winemaking principals, established THE WINEMAKERS´ ALLIANCE called simply V8.
We believe that our strength lies in our mutual connection. The V8 members cooperate in wine marketing, raising the level and prestige of Moravian winemaking and wine culture generally. We plan join participation on local and international wine exhibitions and competitions and cooperation in wine tourism. Our wines have gained many international and local wine awards. However, this is not enough. The most important for us is that you know and understand our wines and buy and taste them either home or abroad.
Cheers!
Truly yours V8
